3 Tips to Strengthen Your Fitness Blog

December 26, 2013 by: 0

The New Year is here, and with it comes the inevitable wave of folks looking to get fit. This season, and throughout the year, more and more people are turning to the Internet to find fitness info. And they’re finding a lot of it on blogs.

Your fitness blog can be about whatever you want: exercise tips and trends, nutrition information, a chronicle of your personal workout journey, a bit of all of that, or something else entirely. But no matter how you approach your blog, you want to do all you can to reach as many readers as possible.

Here are three tips that will pump up any fitness blog.

1. Be interactive

Exercise plans work better when you have support, and that goes for online, too. Run a blog that encourages interactivity. Readers like to respond to questions, take polls, chat with each other, and chat with you.

Another way to encourage interaction is to be yourself. If you discuss your fitness up-and-downs — and everybody has them — your readers will relate to you. Once they do, they’ll feel comfortable sharing their own stories.

And as one person shares, so will others. Soon enough, your blog will be supported by a thriving, vibrant community.

2. Videos

It’s easy to insert videos into your blog, and you should do so often. Exercise routines can be quite complicated to write about, but videos make even complicated moves easily understandable.

Where you get these videos is up to you. Just make sure you’re not using anyone else’s material without permission. You might want to consider filming yourself exercising, though. It’s another great way to promote interactivity with your readers.

Another tactic is to invite guest experts to submit recordings. Write a post about yoga and augment it with a short video from a yoga pro. Connect with a Pilates instructor and make a quick video on ways to correct common errors in technique. The possibilities are endless.

3. Be topical

When it comes to your fitness routine, it’s a great idea to change it up from time to time to avoid boredom and stagnation. It’s a good idea to apply this principle to your blog, too.

Discuss fitness in all its forms: It’ll help your blog stay fresh, and encourage your readers to try new activities, too.

For instance, the Sochi Olympics are big news. A post about what athletes eat is both topical and informative, as is a post about how a regular person can learn to lift weights like an Olympian.

The more you search for fitness-related items in the news, the more you’ll find, and that will help your blog stay fresh and current.

As long as you let your personality shine through, and follow these tips to attract readers, you’ll find your blog growing stronger by the day. You won’t just be blogging your way to fitness, you’ll be blogging your way to success!
