better blogging

Most businesses understand the importance of having some type of blog these days, and even though you might not think that health care professionals would have to worry about it too much, there’s still enough competition going on in that sector that every blog post on a company website helps.

But, because health professionals are not necessarily writers, and writers aren’t typically also health care professionals, there can be a bit of a disconnect in the blogging process. To help with this transition, consider these five tips for better blogging by health professionals, including information about management, language, tone, blog imagery, and staying on target with content.

Look for Great Management

Because it’s a rather picky industry, it’s not a bad idea to hire a blog management team for your healthcare blog needs. These are people who specialize in the SEO aspect of blogging, and they’ll be able to help you with content, titles, organization, and many other aspects of online written content that will help your company succeed and make more money, by getting greater viewership to your blog articles.

Clean Up Your Language

And by, this, I mean edit your copy! If you don’t go back through and read what you wrote, there are going to be lots of mistakes that make it through. And especially if you don’t have an editor, you’re going to want to give yourself a cushion to take some time off after writing something, and then go back later and see if everything makes sense. Look up suggestions for blog writing and editing to help with this topic, as it creates the difference between an amateur blog and a professional one.

Pick Your Tone Wisely

Especially in the healthcare field, tone is extremely important. If you’re too aggressive or too passive with your word choice, you’re going to be turning off readers who would otherwise be interested in your information. First stick with facts, and then add tone and personality as it fit for both your business and your audience.

Use Custom Photos and Images

One good way to differentiate yourself from many healthcare blogs is by using custom images, photos, and graphics. Take your own pictures! Create your own graphics. There are millions of people using the same images, so if you want to be an individual, just create those images on your own to stand out.

Keep Posts Focused

The less focused your content is, the less compelling it is. Many healthcare topics are extremely complicated, and as a healthcare writer, you can get lost in that. Instead of getting overly dense, split up topics into several smaller articles. Keep each one simple and focused, and people will appreciate it much more.
