3 Reasons Your Venue Needs a Blog

Any niche industry can benefit from a blog if it’s done well. However, the idea of a blog is often much more appealing than the actual work that needs to go into it. You need to blog on a regular basis (at least three times per week), provide content that’s equally entertaining and informative, and of course make sure the blog is high quality. Many times, this means hiring a professional blogger with a background in your industry and a knack for search engine optimization (SEO).

As an event space, you may have a lot of local competition when it comes to offering the most beautiful space, the most affordable rates, or the superior service. Not all event spaces are created equally, and a blog can help you stand out. However, also make sure you have a walking video tour, quality yet realistic photos, and a host of testimonials on your site. Here are a few signs that a blog just might be the perfect complement to your event site:

  1. Competition is getting stronger

Maybe there was a time when your venue was the go-to hot spot for everything from bar mitzvahs to receptions. However, the Great Recession bolstered new entrepreneurs and now you might be facing a smorgasbord of competition. On the other end of the spectrum, maybe your venue is the new kid on the blog and you need to compete. A blog can help give you a leg up.

  1. People are tired of physical tours

It’s exhausting going from one venue to another, so give potential customers a sneak peek at what to expect from the comfort of their couch. A great blog draws readers in, gives them fresh perspectives on the subject (like why Thursdays are a great day to save money on an event), and gives them options from just calling and scheduling another “drive by”. Draw readers in with these tips from LinkedIn or, better yet, let a pro do it for you.

  1. Customers don’t always know all the questions

If this is a customer’s first time planning a major event, they’re probably overwhelmed. You can get some great advice from Small Biz Trends, but what customers really need are a professional in their corner. Blogs let you tackle the most common (and uncommon) questions your clients may have.

Planning a big event isn’t easy, but you can help your clients out with a blog that’s designed to entertain, educate and reel them in.
